Honoring Our Teachers, One Flower at a Time
This week, our school community came together in the true spirit of Thai tradition to prepare beautiful flower trays (พานไหว้ครู) for Teacher Appreciation Day!
Students and staff spent hours weaving Ixora, eggplant flowers, and bermuda grass into intricate designs, each one a symbol of respect, gratitude, and the deep bond between student and teacher. It was incredible to watch our international community embrace this cherished Thai custom, with children from all backgrounds learning the meaning behind every flower and fold.
Ixora (ดอกเข็ม) represents sharp intelligence and wisdom, the eggplant flower (ดอกมะเขือ) symbolizes humility — bowing its head just as students bow in respect to their teachers — and bermuda grass (หญ้าแพรก) represents resilience and endurance, thriving and spreading no matter the conditions, just as we hope our students will. The careful arrangement itself is a labor of love — a small but powerful way to say “thank you” to the educators who shape our children’s minds and hearts every single day.
Beyond the beautiful trays, what truly stood out was the sense of togetherness. Older students mentoring younger ones, teachers guiding along the way, and laughter filling the halls as everyone worked toward one shared goal.
To all our wonderful teachers — thank you for your patience, dedication, and endless care. These flower trays may fade, but the gratitude behind them never will.
