“I joined SISB in Grade 8, Term 3—right in the middle of the pandemic, where the lessons were conducted online. Everything felt unfamiliar at first. Coming from a Mandarin-speaking background, I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to keep up or fit in. Looking back, I realised that it wasn’t as scary as I thought. SISB became a place where I felt supported, accepted, and seen—not just as a student, but as a person. I learnt that sometimes, the biggest obstacles are the ones we create in our own minds. Once I let go of fear, I started discovering what I was really capable of.
Over these four years, SISB helped me grow into a better version of myself. I came in quiet and unsure, but I’m leaving as someone who is more confident, more open, and ready for what comes next. It wasn’t just about academics—it was about learning how to connect, how to express myself, and how to grow.
Joining the football club as a goalkeeper was one of the highlights of my time here. It gave me the chance to turn something I loved into real experiences—training, competing, and building resilience through every match. I also found a new passion when I picked up the saxophone and joined the jazz club in Grade 11. From not knowing a thing to performing in concerts, music became a way to express myself in ways I never expected.
I explored even more through school events, being part of a movie production, and the FAME musical. Each experience—whether I was acting or dancing—helped me learn new skills, push past limits, and create unforgettable memories.
SISB played a key role in helping me secure my university offer. The international curriculum and supportive teachers helped me build strong academic and communication skills. Beyond academics, extracurricular activities like clubs and sports helped me develop creativity, teamwork, and confidence—key qualities for a career in marketing. The guidance from teachers and the university counseling team ensured I submitted a strong, well-rounded application.
I aspire to become an entrepreneur and build my own business that reaches people across countries. I want to create something meaningful—something that connects markets and cultures through innovative ideas and global sales. SISB played a big part in shaping that vision by exposing me to an international environment, encouraging creativity, and giving me the confidence to lead and take initiative.
Take your time, try new things, and don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. Some of the best moments come from the things you didn’t expect. Before you know it, you’ll be looking back, too, and you’ll be proud of how far you’ve come.”
