“In Primary 6, I was not good at any academic subjects and barely passed my exams but then I realised that I needed to improve and repay the efforts of my teachers. I met T. Esther when she was my math teacher. She asked me what my favourite subject was, and I said, ‘math’, because even though I was not good at math, it is fun and challenging. Due to my perseverance and competitive spirit, I gave my best to the last and did not give up. She was impressed and gave me the courage to work hard and achieve good results in math.
In Grade 7, I met T. Aaron, while he was participating in some activities with students. This gave me a deep impression on how this teacher gets along well with students. When the school reopened, I was happy that he was going to teach me physics from Grade 7 to Grade 8. Although I was very naughty at that time, he was still patient with me and taught me knowledge that I can use for the rest of my life. During class time, he knew that I was shy so he tried to ask me questions and helped me to become more brave and confident, which I really appreciated. Even until I was in Grade 9, when I asked questions about chemistry, he always replied immediately and supported me for another two years until Grade 10. I was very lucky to have so many great teachers, and it is never enough to just say ‘Thank you’ to them.
In Grade 10, I met T. Lency, and in Grade 11 and 12, I met T. Lija, both of them helped me a lot in math and they are very nice teachers and also get along well with students. I liked the teachers that I met in my academic journey, so I started to be active in class. I believe that if students get along well with the teachers and do not hesitate to ask any questions, school life will be very enjoyable and you will look forward to going to school every day.
Studying here has been both challenging and rewarding. The journey pushed me to work hard, achieve good grades, and build friendships that I will always cherish.
To my juniors: Believe in yourself. Everyone starts from the beginning. Don’t be afraid to compete with one another, be confident in your abilities, and the most important thing is “if you don’t have great talent for what you love, then please try a little harder”.”
