On Oct 6, our Nursery–Kindergarten students took part in a wonderful celebration of the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival, one of the most cherished traditional festivals in Chinese culture. This special occasion, often held during the full moon in early Oct is a time for families to come together, give thanks for the harvest, and enjoy the beauty of the bright moonlight.
During their Chinese lessons, our young learners discovered the fascinating history and legends behind the festival — including the story of Chang’e, the Moon Goddess, and the symbolic meanings of mooncakes and lanterns. Through engaging discussions and visuals, students learned how this festival reminds everyone of family unity, gratitude, and cultural appreciation.
To make the celebration even more memorable, our students participated in creative hands-on activities. 🎨
Our Nursery students coloured their own Mid-Autumn rabbit fans, inspired by the Jade Rabbit who lives on the moon. 🐇
Meanwhile, our Kindergarten students designed and decorated their own paper lanterns, showcasing their creativity and understanding of this meaningful tradition. 🏮
At SISB, we take pride in celebrating global cultures and nurturing our students to become open-minded, respectful, and globally aware citizens. 🌏💫
