SISB Nonthaburi: Songkran Celebrations

SISB Nonthaburi recently celebrated the Thai New Year, also known as ‘Songkran,’ on Friday, March 31, 2023. The event was held at our brand new school and was a resounding success, with staff and students donning colourful and traditional floral shirts and garlands.

The lower primary classroom was filled with students who were eager to participate in the festivities. The event started with the awarding of certificates to students who had worked particularly hard during the previous term. Following this, the students paid their respects to the head teachers by pouring scented water on their hands, which is a tradition during Songkran.

The students then played a game that required bowls of rice to be passed down a line of blindfolded students. The fun continued in the canteen, where the students enjoyed a quick snack before participating in a water balloon relay game.

The event was a fantastic opportunity for students to connect with their culture and appreciate other cultures, which is an essential part of SISB school values. We believe that it’s crucial for our international students to learn about other cultures and to become global citizens who can make a positive impact on the world.

Overall, it was a really fun afternoon, and the celebration of Songkran was an excellent way to kick off the holiday. We are looking forward to more events that promote cultural appreciation and understanding among our students.
