On Jan 14, the Grade 10, 11 and 12 students went on a science educational field trip to Petchaburi province, where they visited a salt farm, a seaweed caviar farm and a palm sugar orchard. First, students saw how salt is extracted from the sea and helped process it before it’s shipped for use in medicine and cooking. Then, the students helped grow, pick, sort and taste grape seaweed, which is used as a vegan alternative to caviar. Finally, the students saw how sugar is extracted from palm trees and helped make steam palm cakes, or khanom tan.
Overall, the students enjoyed a fun-filled day packed with exciting activities that allowed them to appreciate the scientific, agricultural and business applications of these three Thai landmarks, and special thank you to Secondary-Sixth Form’s Teacher Michael for organising this amazing outing.
