“When I first joined SISB, I had a difficult time adapting to the different environment and the new curriculum. There were several times where I failed and struggled to excel in academics and other aspects. However, with the support of precious friends and amazing teachers, I learnt as I grew up that things can get better. There were always opportunities to become a better version of myself each time I failed. This is a lesson that I hold close to my heart when advancing through the levels in SISB. At one point in Grade 11, I even managed to fulfill my dreams of being on stage, which I thought I would never be able to do.
SISB has provided me with many opportunities to discover the things that I wish to write into my story, whether relating to my career prospects in psychology, important values, or the ideal person that I wish to be. For that, I have no regrets.
The university counselling team has provided me with immense support during my university applications. They provided us with several ways to build our portfolio, such as work shadowing and volunteering services. This made the process much more convenient and easier to manage. I am truly grateful for all the reassurance and encouragement that they’ve given us.
I hope to bring new research findings to light, ones that can improve mental health care and treatment options. More than that, I aspire to be someone who can be compassionate and bring relief to people in their toughest times.
You only live once! So try out all the things you want and don’t leave behind any regrets. Prioritise your health and well-being during difficult times. Don’t be scared to stumble and fall, because getting up is part of the fight, too! Remember that there will always be a light shining for you at the end of your story.”
