Having to start in an IB environment was a drastic leap from my studies in Bhutan, and I found it challenging to adjust to a new learning environment. However, with the assistance of the wonderful teachers and friends around me, I was able to become more comfortable in my new environment. The school’s career guidance and holistic approach enabled me to sample a wide range of activities from which I learnt more about myself and my interests. I am indebted to SISB for the opportunities they have provided me, and for all the wonderful people I have met here.
I was given guidance and assistance from the University Counselling team in understanding the application process to the US, and keeping track of all the application deadlines while also receiving great assistance when applying for financial aid and scholarships.
As you focus on your academic journey ahead, do not forget to integrate moments of fun in your life. The journey that is your school life will most likely not be a linear one, and I hope you find it in yourself to help the people around you during the highs and find the assistance you require during your lows. Journeys never go as expected, and sometimes you may find yourself in a situation you do not want to be in. However, to shoot an arrow requires the bowstring to be pulled back. Just because you’ve had a setback does not mean you won’t fly like an arrow sooner or later. May the odds be ever in your favour.
