Grade 9 Students Explore Thai Music Through Hands-On Learning

At SISB Rayong, we believe that culture comes alive through experience! In their recent Thai Studies lesson, our Grade 9 students had the opportunity to explore Thailand’s rich musical traditions by playing authentic Thai instruments.

Music has long been an integral part of Thai culture, and this session introduced students to key traditional instruments, including the mini tom-tom (klong yaw)—widely used in festive celebrations and local performances. They also experimented with the small cup-shaped cymbals (ching) and the mong, gaining a deeper understanding of Thai musical heritage through interactive learning.

This hands-on approach makes cultural education engaging and meaningful, allowing students to connect with Thailand’s traditions in a fun and memorable way. By experiencing music firsthand, they not only develop an appreciation for Thai culture but also build a lifelong connection to its artistic expressions
