SISB’s First Batch of IB Diploma Programme Students Achieves Remarkable Results

The IB results for our pioneer batch of IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) students have been announced, and they did not disappoint!

All SISB students passed and obtained the IB Diploma, with 78.5% scoring 36 pts and more, out of a maximum of 45 points.

Our outstanding first IB cohort did well on the national and global stage, too. With an average score of 37.4, SISB students did better than the average score in Thailand (34.18) and even worldwide (31.98). A remarkable feat, given that this was the school’s first year taking the IBDP.

One of the students of the pioneer batch, Julie Lo Smithgul, said: “I feel relieved that after so many challenges, I have finally attained my IB diploma, and that my hard work paid off.”

Dr. Ong Teck Chin, Head of School of SISB Pracha Uthit campus and Executive Principal of Sixth Form school, said: “I am proud of our first batch of IBDP students. They have worked hard under the guidance of our staff who have the knowledge, experience, and expertise in helping each of our students to achieve their potential and goals. I am delighted that no one scored fewer than 30 points. Our highest score of 44 is an outstanding feat for our first year. Congratulations to all our students and our teachers for this great achievement and success. Indeed, all of you have lived up to our theme this year: ‘Shine like stars in the universe’ ”.

“This is something that is unique to SISB, that we offer not one but two world-class curricula. It is a challenge to do so because of the additional resources required, but we held firm to our ideals because we believe in providing the best for our students. The stellar IBDP results that they have achieved prove that we have done the right thing,

Mr. Kelvin Koh, Chairman of the SISB Schools Governing Board

Besides offering the IBDP, SISB also provides the Cambridge A-Level, another widely recognised curriculum. Our Sixth Form students have the luxury to choose from a unique, dual-curricula education system, so as to forge the education pathway that is most suitable for them.

Overall, SISB’s graduating Class of 2022 has done exceptionally well, receiving 171 offers from top universities around the world and in Thailand, such as Cambridge University, Imperial College London, National University of Singapore, Tsinghua University, and Chulalongkorn University, just to name a few.

Class of 2022 graduate, Sharon Long, SISB’s top scorer with 44 points, said: “I am just happy that my IB journey had ended well, making my teachers proud and allowing me to embark on another exciting journey.”
