FOBISIA Swimming Championships : 27th – 29th 2023

During the weekend of January 27th-29th 2023 the SISB Merlions competed in the FOBISIA Swimming Championships which took place at Bangkok Patana School.

This was a highly prestigious event with just under 800 swimmers from 23 International schools from across Asia, with schools coming from Thailand, Malaysia, The Philippines, Laos, Brunei and Bangladesh to compete. It was a truly wonderful experience for all involved and this was the first time that SISB School has participated in this event. It was a great opportunity for the SISB students to showcase their swimming skills on such a grand scale, and also to interact with other students from International schools from across the Asia region. SISB had a team of 14 students who attended alongside a highly supportive team of parents/guardians.

The event comprised a wide-range of races for the students to compete in and these included the individual events for the 4 strokes over the distances of 50m, 100m, 200m and 400 Metres. Furthermore, there were a range of team swimming events with the mixed and single-gender relays, and SISB had a strong participation across these races over the 3 days.

The final culmination of the event finished with the awards ceremony. Our SISB Merlions all contributed towards the team score and it was certainly a big team effort over the 3 days of competition. Furthermore there were a number of students finishing in top 3 places for the events that they participated in. As a result of the team effort, SISB achieved 1st Place in the category of Highest Average Team Score. Additionally to this, in terms of the Individual Trophy Awards, Pangrum (P5), Peak (P6), Tigger (G7) and Jier (G9) finished in the top 3 places in their respective age categories.

Congratulations to all students involved!! This is a marvellous achievement for our SISB School Community, and we look forward to continuing to participate in these types of events in the future.
